Currently May

WOW, not only is it May, but it's almost the middle of the month! There has been a lot going on in my personal life this month, that my post is a "little" late. But late is better than never. I love linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for Currently! So, here is my Currently May!

LISTENING to the birds chirping outside! The weather is beautiful! Maybe a little muggy, but it's so nice knowing that the cold winter weather is long gone, and summer is right around the corner! I'm ready to swim in the pool again and work on my tan!

LOVING that there are only 15 days left of school, counting today! I only teach at a before/afterschool program, but I am counting down until the last day! Even though my next semester at college starts in two weeks, it'll still be nice to have more time off in the summer so I can enjoy the wonderful weather!

THINKING that I need to order books for next semester. I've been trying to look on Craigslist to see if I can save some money. The cost of college books is somewhat ridiculous! Yes, it's worth it....but I don't think they should be soooo expensive!

WANTING to plant some flowers! I went shopping the other day, and bought a tomato plant and strawberry plant. I went to two different nurseries to see what types of flowers they had and I saw some very beautiful flowers! I cannot wait to get a flower garden started!!

NEEDING to get things ready for summer semester....like getting my books, buying some new clothes, getting supplies, and making sure that I have everything ready to go for the first day!

SURPRISE I love finding new school teacher blogs, especially new teachers! Thanks to another teacher blog, I found The Brown Bag Teacher. She is a first year 5th grade teacher, and I haven't explored her entire blog yet, but I'm very impressed with what I've seen so far! You should go over and check her out!

Happy Blogging,

  1. Hello! I found your blog though the Currently link up [and the comment on my blog]!

I understand cherishing those two weeks before the summer session begins. I took Spanish over the summer last year when I was in school and embraced those freedom days! Exhaustion from finals also takes a few days to recover from anyways.

Today marked 15 days left for us. I know this because I have balloons hanging on a rope on my ceiling and I've had one kiddo a day pop a balloon with their behind. We'll be doing it until the last day. All of my teammates thought I was brave for trying it…Pinterest gives me some crazy ideas!

I think it is so awesome that you were asked to create a blog for a class. I've tried to discuss teacher blogging with my team and they think I'm insane. If you ever teach language arts KIDBLOG is amazing! Each of my kids have a blog and I'm the admin. I have to approve it to get posted so I'm still in control but their love of writing has increased with this tool.

By the way, I LOVE your quote at the end of your first non-required blog post :)
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

  3. Hi Jennifer! I found you through Farley's May Currently! I am a new blogger and I'm so excited about getting better at blogging this summer! Your last name sticks out to me because my 1st year mentor's last name was Jenkins. She was an awesome teacher, as I'm sure you will be as well. I am also LOVING that we only have a couple of weeks left of school! I love my kids but it is waaaay past time for summer! LOL I look forward to reading your blog...have a great rest of the week!
